Lord Of the Rings project write-up.

I made a photoshopped picture of the Fellowship, in the book Lord Of the Rings; Fellowship of the Ring.
I decided to make this because I felt the fellowship to be obviously, an extremely detrimental part of not only this one book. But the entire series. Each member of the Fellowship is brave, selfless, and sacrificial for the benefit of Middle-Earth. They all display heroic characteristics, and help each other out along the way. Together they basically make the back bone of the Frodos journey to Mt.Doom. I felt like they deserved some dedication, and being as it may that the book is called The FELLOWSHIP of the Ring. It obviously shows they were of extreme importance. I hope you liked the project I made. I'm pretty new to photoshop so I tried my hardest, I think it came out ok. So yea that's my project and I hope you liked it.

1st Post about the book im reading.

             Ok so for english class (World Lit) we have to basically find a book over 200 pages, and at or above your reading level and finish it before January 9th 2012. So we were all taken to the OHS library too pick one. I selected Borderline by Allan Stratton. In the 1st 30-50 pages or so in the book, youre lead into the life of a 15 year old Iranian boy named Sami. He takes you too school, he introduces you too his parents and friends, and even shows you why the life of somebody from the middle east, is probably a lot harder than you think. Even if theyre living in the United States. Now a cool part for me is that the story is set in upstate New York. Me also being from Upstate New York instantly drew me to the characters life.
             Im going to kind of do a day-in-the-life thing right now with the main character Sami.
1.) Do all that morning stuff + Pray.
2.) Go to school and get laughed at and taunted as soon as you get there
3.) Try to avoid a football player named "Eddy"
4.) Go to a secure location @ noon and Pray again.
5.) Still avoid the bully when going to class
6.) Go home and somehow get in trouble by Dad.
7.) Eat dinner, akwardly with Mom and Dad bickering at each other
8.) Pray
9.) Talk to andy and marty on the internet (best friends)
10.) Pray then Sleep
As you see this is clearly not your schedule (most likely) I like this about the main character because hes living in almost the same area as myself, yet hes so incredibely different. It hits home, but doesnt. But ya thats what I got for my 1st Book synopses.          

Sherlock Holmes And The Curious Incident of the dog in the night time.

              We recently watched the movie "Sherlock Holmes" in world lit. After reading "The Curious Incident of the dog in the night time." Obviously you can see the similiarities between the movie, and the book. Theyre both based on the mystery/detective esk genre, and contain a mystery plot quite personal to the Protagonist in each. "Sherlock Holmes" and "The Curious Incident of the dog in the night time" shouldnt be read by children. Reason being is strong language, and certain things like autism that they mght not understand fully. However, no children are going to be reading a book that a senior in High School is reading in the 1st place, so I guess it really doesnt make a difference. They are both works of literature that include a detective, a "villian" and an ending of catching the villian. They also both include two protagonists who are really quite determined to catch the person(s) responsible and achieve justice. They were also both distraught by certain parels. Such as Sherlock Holmes having been almost killed several times on his quest to find the villian. And Christopher who was very brought down by his father.
               Although they have similiarities, the movie and book mentioned previously, they couldnt be more incredibely different in story. The movie contains a Man trying to find a villian who has been able to mysteriously use black magic. The book contains a young autistic boy named Christopher trying to find the killer of his neighboors dog. They are both quite somber works of literature. I personally didnt like the book to much, but somebody with a personally autistic effected family might. All together I recommend both the movie "Sherlock Holmes" and the book "The Curious Incident of the dog in the night time."  Personally however, as said before, I liked "Sherlock Holmes" the movie more. I found it more entertaining.

          Henry David Thoreau said something about quality of life. That, to expirience a truly great quality of life, we must rid of our material possessions, and lead a more simple life.
          How does that make sense... YOU make your own quality of life. If you have more fun doing something with a "material" possession, than you do without that possession, you should keep doing what you're doing. You are the creator of your own quality of life, developed upon your own interests.
          This quote does and doesnt make sense to me, simply because it is 100% opinionated. He may have a better quality of life, according to his interests, if he doesnt have material possessions. However, that may not be the case for his next door neighboor... I just think this is quote is bogus.

Prime Numbers

"Prime numbers are what is left when you have taken all of the patterns away. I think prime numbers are like life. They are very logical but you could never work out the rules, even if you spent all your time thinking about them."

        Hmmm, Christopher has a point. To start off I will juxtapose Life and Prime numbers. In a simple sense, the meaning of life, IS very logical... Just like prime numbers. However, everyone knows how complicated life really is, you can't really control everything that happens in life. Just like you can't work out the rules for prime numbers.
         I don't see why he understands prime numbers when nobody else really can, yet he cant understand peoples emotions. It seems that when he sees simple things, he tries to work/figure them out like theyre as complicated as prime numbers, but sometimes, theyre just as simple as seeing if a baby is upset because the baby's crying, or seeing if its happy by the baby laughing...
